Just because someone is an effective manager, does not mean that they are a good or effective leader. Whilst these two words are interchanged readily within a management sphere there is a distinct difference between the two functional aspects of these roles.
As coaches, we want our athletes to be able to perform the skills we are teaching them faster and with improved accuracy. This acquisition of skills is linked to our ability as coaches to be able to effectively code our athletes.
I am currently working with a couple of State Sporting Organisations to develop firstly their Strategic Plan and then their Participation Strategy. It has been an interesting process to date to change the organisational thinking from a ‘build it and they will come’ approach
Physical literacy is achieved by mastering fundamental movement and sport skills. These skills permit an individual to move confidently within a wide range of physical activity situations.
As with many things in life, I didn’t actually grasp the true extent of this lesson I was taught early in my Military Career at the time.
