The need

To establish an Incorporated Association to bring together four cycling bodies in the NT, in order to create more effective and efficient delivery of cycling initiatives to the community.

Project overview

In 2014 I worked with the NT Government and peak bodies within the cycling community in the NT to establish Pedals NT. We secured a $0.5M grant over three years from the Department of Sport and Recreation to establish the organisation. Pedals NT is an alliance of cycling disciplines to provide greater efficiency and community impact.

I developed the strategic, operational and governance structures for the organisation, which included:

  • Development of the memorandum of understanding between founding Peak Bodies;
  • Development of a strategic plan;
  • Development of governance structures including establishing a constitution and board structure;
  • Recruitment of an independent chairperson and executive officer;
  • Induction support to the executive officer; and
  • Ongoing support around strategic and operational policy.

This project has been innovative in its approach to peak bodies working together to achieve greater impact within the community. It has required a high degree of personal communication with a range of stakeholders as well as a high level of strategic planning and development.

The client and my role

Working with three Peak Sporting Bodies, A Bicycle User Group and the NT Government I took on the role of Lead Consultant on the project.
